I wrote on that relative to how the Church is true in our rhetoric a while back. So for instance Alma 32 should be best seen as how we see prophetic words as reliable. John W, while there are huge differences between science and religion, I’m not sure for Mormons that is as true. I’ve discussed that before and don’t want to derail this thread into a discussion of epistemology. I’d just say that one somewhat unique feature of Latter-day Saint thought is the emphasis on evidence. Often private evidence which is the big difference from science, but it’s still an evidentiary approach rather than what we find in most other faiths. What missionaries do is tell people they can find out and encourage them towards personal revelation.
