Death is fundamental to our eternal progression. We are reminded by the Psalmist that “precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15). Isaiah has also declared that the Savior will “swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces” (Isaiah 25:8) ... Appropriately we “weep for the loss of them that die,” for the Lord has so commanded us (see D&C 4:45). But we also take great consolation through the Comforter that those who die in the Lord “shall not taste of death, for it shall be sweet unto them” (D&C 42:46).
