Henry Bennion Eyring is a prominent educational administrator, author, and religious leader. He is currently the second counselor in the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), a position he has held since January 14, 2018. Henry was born on May 31, 1933, in Princeton, New Jersey. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Utah and later received both a master’s and a doctoral degree in business administration from Harvard University. He began his academic career as a professor at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and later served as the president of Ricks College (now Brigham Young University–Idaho) from 1971 to 1977. In his church service, Eyring has held various leadership roles, including as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles since April 1, 1995. He has also served twice as the Church Commissioner of Education. Eyring married Kathleen Johnson in 1962, and they have six children. Known for his thoughtful and compassionate teachings, Eyring has made significant contributions to both the educational and religious communities.
