If you ever met some experimental physicists you'd know that the chances of thousands of them agreeing to a conspiracy would be exactly 0. The few I've met literally only care about what the data says, and spend hours arguing about flaws in each other's theories and statistical likelihoods of being wrong. And they are all really smart too so there's no chance of funny-business from a couple of bad eggs getting past them all
