David Allan Bednar is a prominent religious leader and former educator. He is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), a position he has held since October 7, 2004. David Bednar was born on June 15, 1952, in Oakland, California. He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Brigham Young University and a doctorate in organizational behavior from Purdue University. He began his academic career as a professor of business management at Texas Tech University and the University of Arkansas. From 1997 to 2004, he served as the president of Brigham Young University–Idaho (formerly Ricks College), where he oversaw its transition from a two-year college to a four-year university. In his church service, Bednar has held various leadership roles, including bishop, stake president, and area seventy. He served as a full-time missionary in Southern Germany and has been involved in numerous church initiatives and temple dedications. Bednar and his wife, Susan Kae Robinson, married in 1975 and have three sons. He is known for his teachings on faith, personal revelation, and the importance of family.
