Because some were indeed slave owners and because of the “Three-Fifths Clause” (a necessary Step 1 compromise to persuade southern states to join the Union; elimination of slavery would be Step 2 by Lincoln), the ascending Cancel Culture feels justified by racism reasoning to eliminate all of the works of the Founding Fathers, their tremendous strides toward freedom for all notwithstanding.
