The Lord entered into a special covenant relation with Abraham and promised him three great blessings: (1) his posterity would be as numerous as the stars in the heavens, (2) they would inherit the land of Canaan (Palestine), and (3) “in [him], and in [his] seed after [him] . . . shall all the families of the earth be blessed, even with the blessings of the Gospel, which are the blessings of salvation, even of life eternal.” (Abr. 2:11.)
