“Marriage is ordained of God” (D&C 49:15), and “what therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Matthew 19:6). Our Heavenly Father desires that all of his children be able to enjoy supreme happiness in marriage and family life. Living according to his higher law would make divorce nonexistent. The sealings of husbands to wives, performed in holy temples, however, are not dissolved by a civil divorce decree. There is no such thing as a temple divorce.
