The Church honors and reveres the Bible; it is one of the standard works of our faith. Members of the Church are commanded to teach the principles of the gospel “which are in the Bible and the Book of Mormon” (D&C 42:12). President Heber J. Grant, who served as president of the Church from 1918 to 1945, reflected the attitude of the faithful regarding the Bible: “All my life I have been finding additional evidences that the Bible is the Book of books, and that the Book of Mormon is the greatest witness for the truth of the Bible that has ever been published.” The First Presidency similarly noted in 1992: “The most reliable way to measure the accuracy of any biblical passage is not by comparing different texts, but by comparison with the Book of Mormon and modern-day revelation”— LDS Beliefs
