Why preach the gospel in the spirit world unless believing souls in that realm can repent and be saved? Truly, as Peter says, all men “shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.” All men are alive in the sight of God; to him there is no death and there are no dead. Accordingly, “for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.” (1 Peter 4:5-6.) The judgments of God are just because of salvation for the dead. If the dead could not be saved on the same basis as the living, God would be neither just nor merciful, and thus would cease to be God.Share
