Joseph Smith and his successors in the presidency of the Church have consistently instructed the Saints that truth is fixed, eternal, and undeviating. “Truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come.” (D&C 93:24.) Truth is not established by consensus, by popular vote, or by utility alone. Likewise, right and wrong are not defined by society. Latter-day Saints believe in absolute truths. They believe that because God’s laws are constant and consistent, people may depend with certainty upon the consequences of obedience and disobedience.Share
