Yes.  And a definition of humility is critical in these statements too.  Humility does not mean letting yourself be a doormat.

Man, I don't know that I can agree with this one. I immediately think of all the battered women I've worked with over the years. I understand Trimble is talking about verbal communication, but too many of those women would take this to mean that if the batterer does not communicate, for their own safety they should just slink into themselves and not do anything about the situation.

I know that's not what Trimble is referring to, but that's a problem with such broad statements without context. They can too easily be taken out of context.

Humility offers your best chance of restoring a sense of safety.
