In fact, Joseph Smith stated that the women of the Church were organized after the organization that existed in Christ's Church anciently. He then visited Relief Society frequently and at least six times taught the women the doctrine of the gospel, focusing particularly on priesthood, to prepare them to receive their endowment in the house of the Lord.
