Spiritual death came upon man and the earth as a significant and far-reaching consequence of Adam’s transgression. To die a spiritual death is to be severed from the presence of God—to be cut off from the influence of God’s glory so that one is no longer benefited significantly by that divine substance of intelligence and power.
