And, as so often happens, I immediately thought of a hymn having read your comment - "Stewards of Earth." (If you haven't figured it out, one of the many hats I wear is one for being music director of our church.)

I mostly agree with this quote, but not completely.  I don't think the resources of the earth are a free-for all to be taken by anyone, at any time, with no thought of others (including future generations) who also have a right to Earth's resources.  Responsible capitalism treats the environment as a stewardship to be managed, maintained, and passed on in good condition.  

Never thought of it that way, but it certainly makes sense.

Environmentalism, of course, does not and cannot advocate capitalism, because if people are free to act on their judgment, they will strive to produce and prosper; they will transform the raw materials of nature into the requirements of human life; they will exploit the Earth and live.
