Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and stage designer. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Born on October 25, 1881, in Málaga, Spain, Picasso showed a remarkable talent for art from a young age. He received formal artistic training from his father, who was also an artist. Picasso moved to Paris in 1904, where he became a central figure in the avant-garde art scene. He co-founded the Cubist movement with Georges Braque, revolutionizing the way art represented reality. Some of his most famous works include "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" (1907) and "Guernica" (1937). Guernica is a powerful anti-war statement inspired by the bombing of the Basque town during the Spanish Civil War. Throughout his prolific career, Picasso produced an estimated 50,000 artworks, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, and prints. He was known for his ability to continually reinvent his style, exploring various artistic movements such as Surrealism and Expressionism. Picasso's personal life was as colorful as his art. He had numerous relationships and fathered four children. He spent his later years in France, where he continued to work until his death on April 8, 1973, in Mougins.
