Oprah Winfrey is an American media mogul, actress, talk show host, television producer, and philanthropist. She was born on January 29, 1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi.  She overcame a challenging childhood to become one of the most influential women in the world. She is best known for her talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, which ran for 25 years and was the highest-rated television program of its kind.
Winfrey's early life was marked by hardship, including poverty and abuse.
