Nick Saban is widely regarded as one of the greatest college football coaches of all time. He played defensive back at Kent State University and began his coaching career as a graduate assistant there. He was born Nicholas Lou Saban Jr. on October 31, 1951, in Fairmont, West Virginia. Saban’s head coaching career includes stints at the University of Toledo, Michigan State University, Louisiana State University (LSU), and the University of Alabama. He won his first national championship with LSU in 2003. However, his most notable achievements came with Alabama, where he led the Crimson Tide to six national championships between 2009 and 2020.
