Leonard Peikoff

Leonard Peikoff is a Canadian-American philosopher and a prominent advocate of Objectivism, the philosophy developed by Ayn Rand. He was a close associate of Rand and was designated as her legal heir. He was born on October 15, 1933, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Peikoff studied philosophy at New York University, where he earned his BA, MA, and PhD degrees. He taught philosophy at several institutions, including Hunter College and New York University. In 1985, he founded the Ayn Rand Institute to promote Objectivism.
