Karl Marx
Karl Marx was a revolutionary political economist, journalist, and activist. He is best known for his works “The Communist Manifesto” (1848), co-authored with Friedrich Engels, and “Das Kapital” (1867), which laid the foundation for modern socialism and communism. He was born on May 5, 1818, in Trier, Prussia (now Germany). Marx studied law and philosophy at the universities of Bonn and Berlin, where he became involved with the Young Hegelians, a group of radical thinkers. His critical views on society and politics led to his exile from Germany, and he spent much of his life in London. In London, Marx continued his writing and activism, contributing to various publications and developing his theories on capitalism and class struggle. His ideas, collectively known as Marxism, argue that all societies progress through the conflict between the ruling class (bourgeoisie) and the working class (proletariat). Marx died on March 14, 1883, in London. His work has had a lasting impact on political thought and movements worldwide.
