Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) was a German philosopher who is considered one of the central figures in modern philosophy. Kant's work in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and aesthetics has had a profound influence on subsequent philosophy. Kant's most famous works include the "Critique of Pure Reason," "Critique of Practical Reason," and "Critique of Judgment." In these works, he explored the relationship between human experience and knowledge, and developed his moral philosophy which includes the concept of the "categorical imperative." Kant spent his entire life in Königsberg, where he worked as a professor and wrote extensively. He was Born on April 22, 1724, in Königsberg, Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). He passed away on February 12, 1804. His ideas continue to shape philosophical thought today.
