Gary C. Lawrence is an American opinion pollster and author known for his work on public perceptions of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He received a B.A. in political science from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. in public affairs communication from Stanford University. Lawrence has spent over three decades studying American public opinion and runs a polling company called Lawrence Research in Santa Ana, California. In 2008, he published the book “How Americans View Mormonism: Seven Steps to Improve Our Image,” which explores public perceptions of the LDS Church and offers strategies for improving its image. As a devout Latter-day Saint, Lawrence has served in various church positions, including missionary work in Germany, bishop, and temple ordinance worker. His research and writings have contributed significantly to understanding and addressing public attitudes towards the LDS Church.
