Dalai Lama
Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, was born on July 6, 1935, in Taktser, Amdo, Tibet. He was recognized as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama at the age of two, and was formally enthroned in 1940. In 1959, following the Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule, he fled to India, where he established a government-in-exile in Dharamshala. The Dalai Lama is known for his teachings on compassion, nonviolence, and the promotion of human values and religious harmony. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his efforts to peacefully resolve the Tibetan issue. The Dalai Lama continues to be a global advocate for peace and Tibetan culture.
